ACCESS FOR ALL INC NEWSLETTER 22.7.04 ED NO: 6-1 |
Hello Everyone
Welcome to yet another Newsletter. This is an extra newsletter to inform you of the outcome of our Annual General Meeting held on July 10th 2004 AND TO UPDATE YOU ON NEW CONTACT NUMBERS.
Our Chairman Neil Waddell and outgoing committee were encouraged by the enthusiasm of all who attended the AGM in the Nelligen Hall. Once again the Innes family provided us with a very generous lunch and kindly donated the seafood raffle for the day. Congratulations to the incoming committee (names & contact numbers further on in newsletter) good luck you have a mighty standard to live up to! Many Thanks in particular to Margot Waddell.
From the AGM Access for All's aim was re-affirmed. That is maintaining Access to public lands. Our committee has been buoyed by progress in our discussions with the NPWS.
HERITAGE:
The Shoebridge Track Heritage study has been attended by the NPWS, we are now waiting for the outcome of the assessment. Access for All will continue negotiations with the NPWS in regard to our use of these old bridle tracks. Some members have been very helpful with information about these tracks, we ask that this information continue and encourage all members to investigate their own areas for old tracks, mining sites, homesteads etc which could be of Heritage value within our National Parks. These need to be collated, preserved and valued for our future generations.
Eventually, this information will be sorted into format even if we are unsuccessful with our funding application.
NATIONAL PARK AND WILDLIFE SERVICE:
NPWS are still progressing with their Plan if Management for the various national parks. They are planning now to manage both access and fires.
It is important that everyone lodges submissions and ideas - otherwise we could be in jeopardy of losing further access to the parks. The committee is still in consultation with NPWS on a host of issues noted in the Plan.
COMMITTEE MANAGEMENT:
The new enthusiastic committee has decided to run with the calendars as a fund raiser again this year. Sponsorship will be sought at $100 a photo on each month.
Sponsors can supply their own photos or we can supply one. If sufficient sponsorship can be found we are considering 2 types of calendars. One for around the Tallaganda area and one for the coastal area. Anyone willing to sponsor a month please contact any committee member mentioned on this newsletter.
More news later about cost etc.
RENEWAL OF MEMBERSHIP NOW DUE:
IT IS THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN. It is important that we renew our membership. Those of you who are not members, but receive the newsletter as a supporter could you consider taking up membership? It would be most welcome.
Those of you who are already members we value your membership, those who are about to join, thank you, your membership will add to the ever increasing number of memberships each year. Because of our numbers the NPWS and other organisations are forced to recognise that Access for All is not a 'here today and gone tomorrow' organisation.
If there is anyone out there who does not wish to receive the newsletter, could you please advise the committee.
OUR WEBSITE:
Our apologies to all about the site. We have had a few problems with costs; access etc. all which have been sorted. We are now in the process of updating the format and hopefully the new look site will be up and running shortly.
Many thanks to Jenette Hindmarsh and Trevor O'Bryan for helping us with this
for those of us who are computer illiterate it has been a very steep learning curve!
