ACCESS FOR ALL INC
NEWSLETTER

Winter 2004

Hello to you all.

Once again it is time for our Winter End- of Year Newsletter. (Our 5th)

The committee is still meeting monthly with an average attendance of 15, also several small meetings have been conducted with other groups.

Recently, Access for All had the opportunity to address the NPWS Advisory Committee which met in Braidwood. Some encouraging Discussion took place and we now look forward to the outcome. A thank you to all themembers who gave up their time to help with Preparation for the day.

HERITAGE
We had a great display in St Bede’s Hall on Heritage Day in Braidwood and what really lifted the day along was Jack Wallace's amazing historical photo exhibition. Jack travelled from Milton for the occasion and we thank Jack for his efforts.

The application for funding from the Federal Government is moving along slowly. We are experiencing concerns in meeting the criteria, as set by the South East Area Consultative Committee (SEACC).
Our committee has gathered a large selection of maps and information on several heritage sites, tracks etc. Eventually, this information will be sorted into format even if we are unsuccessful with our funding application.

NATIONAL PARKS & WILDLIFE SERVICE
NPWS are still progressing with their Plan of Management for the various national parks. They are planning now to manage both access and fires. It is important that everyone lodges submissions and ideas - otherwise we could be in jeopardy of losing further access to the parks. The committee is still in consultation with NPWS on a host of issues.

NATURAL RESOURCE MANAGEMENT NETWORK (NRMN
The network is still supplying information to us and we pass anything of relevance onto them. Sharing your information is an advantage to everyone.
If anyone would like information distributed at a state-wide level, please pass it onto us, and we will hand it on to the NRMN.

COMMITTEE MANAGEMENT
The committee has experienced a difficult year with the management of our small budget. The sale of our very popular calendars and the raffle which was run earlier in the year enabled us to end the year with a surplus. These two projects proved to be very demanding on a few members. Assistance is always welcomed.

The initial outlay to purchase the photocopier has been well and truly justified. Savings have been made in the printing of pamphlets and this newsletter.
This is the fourth newsletter for the year. We feel that it is necessary and important to keep members informed of the committee's progress and work they are continuing to carry out unfortunately it all costs money!

To give you some idea of the amount of work undertaken, we have done some calculations and the following figures may be of interest to you.
Correspondence
Last year - 4107 pieces.
This year - 11579 pieces.
Telephone (In & Out)
Last year - 1136
This year -1256

We need ideas on how to improve the running of the committee. Ideas are also needed on how to raise funds, outside of membership. Many people (other than members) benefit from our work

MEMBERSHIP
It is of great importance that we renew our membership and if those of you who are not members, but receive the newsletter as a supporter could consider taking up membership, it would be most welcome.

If there is anyone out there who does not wish to receive the newsletter, could you please advise the committee.
